Jeffersons Brewery Interfusion Fruited Gose with Raspberry & Lactose
THE BREWERY SAYS:
I am going to start this beer introduction by saying this beer has double the amount of raspberry in than an Innocent Raspberry Smoothie!….Let that sink in….
Fruit was a adjunct that we wanted to play around with having never added any to our beers before, Fruited Gose was the clear choice of sour for us. Having drunk many examples, we choose not to have a mouth cloying amount of saltiness like some others have done. We decided to let the Coriander seeds and salt play a smaller role. You will get them in the beer and they add a lovely brightness and drinkability, but what we had other plans for the front of stage. Having lowered the PH down to 3.4, this beer is sour, but not lip smacking, eye wonky sour! We believe its an approachable and enjoyable level of sour that is perfectly balanced with the Raspberry. The Raspberry adds a big amount of tartness to the beer anyway, so lowering the PH any further would have probably taken it too far. We have gone for a whopping 103g/l of Raspberry puree at the dry hop stage, that means 10% of this beer is Raspberry. To balance the sourness we wanted to add some more sweetness to the beer as Raspberry doesn’t quite cut it! The lactose adds a smooth velvety mouthfeel and does play a big roll in rounding the whole beer together! We think you’re going to enjoy this one, both ascetically and in flavour.
