The success of Kees Brewery (or Brouwerij Kees, as the Dutch brewery is known in its homeland) can be traced back to one man: Kees Bubberman.
Bubberman began his brewing career in 2007, when he started brewing for a small, regional Netherlands-based brewery called Emelisse. It wasn’t long before Emelisse’s output changed dramatically. Thanks to the influence of Kees Bubberman, Emelisse began to produce the kind of IPAs, porters and imperial strength stouts that now underpin the craft beer scene. As a result, Emelisse started to attract attention. Today, the brewery is famous in craft beer circles worldwide.
But the story doesn’t stop there. Following his early success with Emelisse, Kees Bubberman wondered if he could set up shop solo. His experimental recipes were, after all, turning heads. So in 2015, he gave it a go. Kees rose to prominence immediately.
Today, Kees beers are lauded by beer lovers everywhere, who flock to Kees’ experimental styles. Kees stouts are particularly noteworthy – the sweet, dessert-like, imperial strength dark stuff is where this brewery excel. Flavours are always thought through. And they always come through.
Life’s too short for boring, middle-of-the-road beers, Kees Bubberman says. The beers Kees make backs this up.
