7 Fresh New Craft Beers To Try This Week
Oli Meade

There’s a mega new Verdant / Track IPA out this week that’s taken the beer world by storm… plus some of the best silly sours ever released from Warsaw’s Funky Fluid.

Before we get to them, the big news.

Nonarch NEIPA is finally here!

1. Dogs Grandad / Craft Metropolis – Nonarch NEIPA

Shortly before the Jubilee weekend, we teamed up with Dog’s Grandad to brew Nonarch NEIPA. It landed, as luck would have it, this weekend… and we haven’t managed to stop banging on about is ever since!

With summer here we wanted something you could smash in the sun but still filled with serious hoppy flavour, which is exactly what you get.

Outstanding refreshment. Juicy pineapple. When you get to the end, you just want another.

So, to introduce Nonarch to the world, this week only, it’s Buy One Get One Free!

Just add two or more cans to your cart and use the coupon BOGOFNONARCH when checking out.

The more you snap up, the more free beers you get! (While stocks last. We can’t rebrew it.)

2. Verdant / Track – Equals Pi IPA

To supplement your Nonarch this week, head straight for the new Verdant – and in particular Verdant / Track collab Equals Pi IPA.

People have been going mad for this this week for good reason – citrusy lime, juicy orange, bitter grapefruit and weedy vibes… there is nothing this hop-forward rollercoaster doesn’t have.

Get in my glass.

3. Verdant – Under The Same Sky TDHND DIPA

Aaaand it’s a one-two finish for Verdant this week, because Under The Same Sky TDHND DIPA is as great – and maybe even better – than the above!

Triple Dry Hopped to utter saturation and dextrose-free, it’s creamy, it’s rich, it’s thick, it’s Verdant doing DIPA in 2022.

Beer doesn’t get much better. Immense.

4. Beak / Bundobust – Clobber DIPA

Elsewhere the new Beak proves, once again, how brilliant this small Lewes brewery has become.

With Clobber DIPA you get your classic dosage of Beak’s velvety fluffiness that no-one can duplicate, plus an all-consuming faceful of peach, pineapple and juicy, sweet mandarin.

Hopped with Mosaic, Vic Secret, Wai-iti and Citra.

Another outstanding Double IPA.

5. Polly’s Brew Co. – Pura Vida Antipodean IPA

If you think Clobber’s hop bill has heft, Polly’s go even further with their new Pura Vida Antipodean IPA.

This is a rebrew of the incredible original, so if you missed out, here’s a second chance.

Polly’s have thrown everything South Pacfic at this – Enigma, Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, The Betty and The Bruce all join forces for a Polly’s trademark juicy fruit punchbowl.

It’s an IPA that drinks like a DIPA. Polly’s remain the juice kings of England.

6. Funky Fluid – Triple Gelato: Yellow Fluff Ice Cream Sour

Over in sourville, Warsaw’s Funky Fluid have won fans this week with their magnificent new sours, the best of the brilliant bunch being Triple Gelato: Yellow Fluff Ice Cream Sour.

This thing pours so thick you’re unsure whether to attack it with a straw or a spoon.

Initially, it’s sweet vanilla marshmallow, which quickly gives way to tangy passionfruit, before the thick banana brings things home – if you like your sours silly, you won’t find better than this.

Funky Fluid’s Triple Gelato: Nero Ice Cream Sour is the equally outstanding counterpart.

7. Funky Fluid – Splash Green: Kiwi & Lime Double Fruited Gose

Obviously big ol’ pastry sours cost a bit, which just makes Funky Fluid’s great value Splash Session Sours even more brilliant.

If you want an introduction to this Polish brewery then get involved – Splash Yellow: Mango & Lemon Double Fruited Gose is as described, and Splash Green: Kiwi & Lime Double Fruited Gose is the definition of refreshment.

Collect the whole set with Splash Red: Pomegranate & Blackcurrant Double Fruited Gose.

These in the sun = heaven.

8. Vinohradský pivovar – Vinohradská 11 Czech Pilsner

Lager fans, pay attention, because, no exaggeration, Vinohradský Pivovar’s Vinohradská 11 Czech Pilsner is one of the best – and maybe even the best – lager I’ve ever tasted.

Super smashable, as every lager should be, but with this wicked bubblegummy malty undertone all the way through.

I usually buy beers in then try them as I go, but with this the reverse was true… I tried it and thought ‘I’m having more of that’ so went out and bought a load.

If you’re a lager fan, just stop what you’re doing and get this in – you can send me your letter of thanks later on.

9. Top Rope / Emperor’s – The Shockmaster Tonka, Coffee & Pecan Imperial Stout

While it might be summer, that’s not discouraging the dark wizards of this world from their black magic, and if you need proof then look no further than new Emperor’s collab The Shockmaster Tonka, Coffee & Pecan Imperial Stout.

Thick, rich, indulgent, sweet, decadent and boozy.

It’s almost if they don’t care about summer.

10. Northern Monk – OFS073 West Indies Stout

That said, I hear they get a fair bit of sun in the Caribbean, and yet Guinness Export Stout is one of the most popular beers in the region.

Northern Monk had a bash at bettering the stalwart this week with OFS073 West Indies Stout, and what’s great about this is you get all the intense malty, fruit & nut milk chocolate, but Crystal malt keeps the mouthfeel moderate and drinkable, even in the sun.

For those who love stout in winter, try this out.

Plus…

There’s a big pair of DIPAs just in from Gravity Well in single-hopped Simcoe Supernova and juice-laden Hubble Bubble DIPA, plus a Coconut DIPA from Northern Monk.

Dialled down a notch we have Polly’s Bouquet IPA, Pressure Drop’s The Talent NEIPA, there’s Azvex’s Magnetic Recollection IPA, and there’s Show Me What’s What IPA by Verdant.

Talking of Verdant, there’s a big restock of fan favourites Fruit Car Sight Exhibition DIPA and Allen DIPA, two beers that just never lose their appeal.

Pales this week sing in the form of Beak’s new Fables Pale Ale plus Top Rope’s Cold Stone Cream Austin Ice Cream Pale

There’s a Black IPA from Top Rope, a cheeky Brew York & Pastore collab, there’s Funky Fluid’s Hazy IPA, a mad Cherry Bakewell IPA and an 8% Caribbean experiment from Northern Monk in OFS074 Mango & Prickly Pear Sour.

So dive in, fill up, have fun, and don’t forget…

This week, use the coupon code BOGOFNONARCH and get Nonarch NEIPA buy one, get on free!

As always, I really hope you get to try some of these gems this week.

Cheers & happy drinking!
